For our solo show at OHWOW, we presented Building Blocks, a collection of paintings, over a decade in the making. Rather than merely flat wall pieces, these paintings acted as two- dimensional extensions of our sculptural, graphical, and experiential installation works. These works were quasi portraits, with the abstraction of human visage allowing viewers to project their own emotions. In this manner, the portraits became vacillating reflections, reliant and transformed via audience interaction. This exchange, echoed by our experiential sculptural installations, delivered these paintings from flat to dimensional, aesthetic to conceptual. Presented alongside this series of paintings, we exhibited select sculptural pieces, meant to illustrate the progression between their installation and the "portraiture." Continuing the trajectory of interactive focus, the air inflated sculptures play with the experience and result of relational artwork.
